Our primary concern ...
Weekly safety meetings are attended by the entire company. Weekly foreman's meetings focus on safety, as well as production and leadership skills.When a new hire joins the company, the steps to make them a safe worker begins with our new hire orientation and continues with continuous safety and job skill training by our foremen and superintendents. Our goal is to have zero accidents. Through good pre-task planning and sound management skills we can reach or goal.
The foremen at Up n Down are all certified Competent Scaffold Erectors by the Scaffold Industry Association (SIA). But their training doesn't stop there. Safety training for forklifts, first aid, CPR, tool safety and general safety are all a must and the training is always ongoing.
The material used by Up n Down Scaffold is all inspected constantly and defective parts are marked and removed from service. Up n Down replaces the damaged material. We also increase our stock with new material from our manufacturer as needed to meet demand.
If you are serious about safety management, here are a couple of classes that we offer through Up n Down Scaffold Co., Inc.:
User Safety Course ($300 per 1 Hour, any class size) – Training that is required by law for those individuals who will be conducting work on or from a scaffold. REQUIREMENTS: The employer shall have each employee trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards. The training shall include these serious scaffold hazards:
- Falls
- Unsafe Access
- Falling Objects
- Electrocution
- Scaffold Collapse
Scaffold Awareness ($600 per 2 Hours, any class size) – User safety information is expanded to include:
- Code of Safe Practices
- Rolling Tower Safety
- Proper inspection of erected scaffold
- Corrective measures
- Pedestrian Canopies
- Intro and Inspection of Swing Stages
- Setting up a Pre-task plan for you needs
- Job Site inspection log
Competent Scaffold Erector Course ($250 per person for 8-hour class. Books not included)
